Working programs on each study subject have list of obliged educational – methodical literature and additional literature for the more profound studying discipline is also supplied. Providing with study and educational methodical literature is from 0, 5 up to 1 and additional literature from 0, 5 up to 0, 7.
Average provision with study and educational – methodical literature is 29, 7. During the training students can widely use scientific literature (book), its supply is 47, 9. The common library square is 2500 m².
The library fund is 506722 units, including 332634 scientific editions, 279235 educational editions and 20921 university issues. Reading rooms get 287 periodicals. The library fund is specialized and includes 85 % of scientific, educational, medical reference books, 15 % of social – humanitarian, art and other literature. The library has 4 specialized reading halls with 252 seats.
The maintenance of library fund is available through the net of catalogues and card files: Electronic catalogue (since 1991) is accessible in both local regime of the library and «Internet», also by means of traditional catalogues: Althabetical, Regular (Systematic), Subject the MD and PhD BSMU thesis catalogues etc.
The library has electronic catalogue in order to open the whole content of the library fund and get fast access to it.
There are biomedical and universal electronic databases in the library: Russian medicine, State Central Scientific Medical Fund, Medline National USA Library etc. With the aid of Russian Fundamental Innovation Fund and the state program «Scientific electronic library» the telecommunication access to native and foreign databases: EBSCO, Springer, Elsevier, Kluwer, Academic Press and so on.

Educational process supply
In the preclinical period, active study in chemical and physical laboratories, the work with macro – and microbiological preparations, animal experiments are carried out.

here are 3 phantom classes in nursing chair. These classes are founded with the aim of mastering and consolidating students practical skills in the preclinical period. The students of medical specialties are trained in manipulating techniques by using imaginary training apparatus.
Preclinical course of phantom training is compulsory before working in clinics. Phantom classes rigged with unique equipments which allow to model different traumatological and surgical operations have been organized in traumatological and orthopaedic chairs. Business games and experiments of the bones osteosynthesis stability are carried out in phantom classes. Phantom simulators are used in order to take possession of medical and reanimation technique in pathophysiologic («Animated Vanya»), anaesthesiologic and reanimatologic chairs (5 simulators). 3 dentical chairs (orthopaedic, therapeutic, surgical stomatology) have phantom classes where students in preclinical period master different methods of treatment, preparation technique, filling, endodontic treatments, taking a cast of smth., making a prosthetic appliance, extraction of teeth, splinting and so on. Some clinical chairs are equipped with educational laboratories provided with toolkit, the diagnostic and medical tools for practical skills study (diagnostic manipulations, anesthesia methods, intensive therapy).

Technical providing

In clinical chairs all students study clinical investigation methods of patients, medical manipulations and urgent care. They master skills in procedural, dressing operative blocks, departments of functional diagnostics, analyze the laboratories and diagnostic methods of patients’ investigations. Clinical visits, patients discussion, scientific and anatomic conferences with Chairs professors and assistants form clinical way of thinking among the students. Senior students under the control of tutor and supervise patients independently in hospitals, clinics, polyclinics and dentistry offices, perform duties on emergency and provide medical care during the flu epidemics.

The following technical facilities are used to educate students:

-large library of educational video films (more than 300) was collected. It is copied by the Department of Information technologies and passes to different chairs with the aim of independent showing in lecture halls;
-two lecture halls of pharmacological and pharmacognosy chairs have been equipped with audi — and video resources;
-5 classes of microbiological chair have been equipped with TV net cable (macro – and micromaterials, educational video films, slides and so on).

Basic trends in reforming the educational process of Bashkir State Medical University from 1999 to 2003 were:
•use of the latest information technologies on the base of traditional electronic forms of training (lectures, textbooks and hand books in electronic form);
•creation and storage of training programs – virtual, electronic, operational, diagnostic programs, digital processing of clinical material;
•forming the base of controlling programs in tests and situational tasks;
•transformation of methodological material into a modern multimedia variant with a wide use of video and audio records;
•organization of phantom classes in order to master practical skills and knowledge and to supply with new video material block;
•opening of the WEB-center and free-access halls;
•opening of Bashkir State Medical University’s WEB-site with basic teaching programs included
There are specialized computer classes where students learn the principles of informatics and technical support in public healthcare; control of students’ knowledge is carried out in such departments as the department of physics, physiology and ecology, biochemistry, human anatomy, oncology, traumotology and orthopedics, in computer classes and in Children’s Clinical Hospital of Republic of Bashkortostan. On the chairs of the University in the given period of time there were used such modern informational-directory systems as,
•computer programs (on training, intermediate and final control of students’ knowledge on certain tasks, on the parts of the course, the year in total, and on the integration of several years – in the departments of traumothology, oncology, internal and surgical diseases, obstetrics and gynecology, human anatomy, physiology and ecology, pharmaceutical technology, biological chemistry, public healthcare, phtisio-pulmonology, etc. ) – 18 departments included;
•programs worked out by native and foreign centers in 29 departments;
•computer technologies (multimedia, electronic textbooks) in 5 departments.
The Internet-center was launched in September, 1999. The organization of WEB-center with all the equipment required was arranged by the Internet-center group . In January, 2000 the Internet-center became a separate division in BSMU. The Internet-center has its own electric net which is widely used. The Internet-center also has the communication center and WEB-laboratory, the former providing the work of all computers in the University network.
